I was literally in extreme poverty, receiving food stamps for years, so it would have taken a lot of effort to find people who were less financially secure than me. I'm queer, I date people of all genders, and I'm talking about specific things that come up when I date men. I take full responsibility for my own role in these less-than-ideal situations; I definitely had a lot to learn, too. But it wasn't that I looked for rich guys and expected them to pay my way. I looked for meaningful connections and found that men were rarely aware of what the real work of feminism is about—which includes being aware of all of the factors that contribute to inequality.
