People date at all ages.

In heterosexual marriages, women tend to be younger than their partners (by an average of at least 2 years). The age gap can be much wider.

I was 20 in 2009, so my experiences at that age do not reflect the current wage gap (which, fortunately, is starting to close a bit).

Averages do not reflect individual experiences, and individual experiences do not reflect averages. My experience was one of being in poverty and having men who were relatively financially comfortable overlooking our difference in privileges (which could include coming from vastly different backgrounds).

Also, I can’t think of a feminist man that I know whose first instinct is to dismiss the devastating impact of the wage gap. Instead of deflecting from the problem, they look at their role in being part of the solution.

Thank you for the mansplaining, though!
